What labs study it for
Growth-hormone research. Labs use it as a standard reference signal for the growth-hormone-releasing receptor, a baseline to compare other compounds against.
What this compound is
Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the first 29 amino acids of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, the shortest fragment that retains full receptor activity. Laboratories use it as a reference GHRH-receptor agonist in endocrine studies. Sermorelin was formerly marketed as an approved drug product in the United States; the material supplied here is a laboratory reagent and is not that product.
Sermorelin. Supplied lyophilized. Lot-specific HPLC and MS documentation accompanies each unit.
3D structure
Carbon in orange, nitrogen blue, oxygen red, sulfur yellow. Formula C149H246N44O42S.
Structure from PubChem CID 16132413, with 3D coordinates computed from it.
Family
All families →GHRH analogues
All copy the same natural hormone and hit the same receptor.
Growth-hormone-releasing hormone is a 44-amino-acid hormone made in the hypothalamus. It binds the GHRH receptor on the pituitary, which is the switch for growth-hormone release. Each compound in this family is a version of that hormone, differing in how much of the sequence is kept and how it is protected from enzymes. Sermorelin keeps the first 29 residues — the shortest piece that still activates the receptor. Tesamorelin keeps all 44 and adds a chemical group at one end to slow breakdown. CJC-1295 DAC adds a group that latches onto albumin in blood, extending its life from minutes to days.
