Storage & handling guide
Every compound we sell ships as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial. Handled correctly, it keeps its purity for the length of a study. This guide covers the basics; always follow your institution's own procedures.

Handling basics
Let it warm before opening
Bring a cold vial to room temperature, still sealed, before opening it. Opening it cold draws moisture from the air onto the powder, and moisture is the main cause of degradation.
Keep it dry
Lyophilized peptides absorb water from the air. Close vials promptly, and store them with a desiccant where possible.
Keep it dark
Some residues are sensitive to light. Store vials in their box or an opaque container.
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw
Each cycle of freezing and thawing can degrade material. Laboratories that need several portions usually divide material once, into single-use aliquots, and freeze those.
Once in solution, it's a different product
Peptides in solution are far less stable than the dry powder. Solvent choice, concentration, storage and shelf life in solution are set by each laboratory's own validated protocol.
Record the lot
Note the lot number from the vial in your lab records, so any result can be traced back to its certificate.
Safety data sheets for each compound are in the document library. Shipping details are on the Shipping page.
