Research use only — not for human or veterinary use

Eligibility is determined by intended use.

Account eligibility

All products are supplied for in vitro laboratory research use only. They are not for human or veterinary use. Purchasing requires a verified laboratory account; there is no consumer sales channel and no guest checkout. Every application is reviewed by a person.

Recognized institutions

Academic, government, healthcare-research, contract research, and established commercial research organizations qualify with:

Independent laboratories

You do not need a university or corporate affiliation to hold an account. Independent and early-stage laboratories are welcome and are reviewed under the same standard: bona fide laboratory use. An independent laboratory application requires:

Applications from free-mail addresses (Gmail, Outlook, and similar) are accepted but always undergo manual review; an email address on the laboratory's own domain speeds up processing.

Starting a legitimate research laboratory

If you are establishing a new laboratory, the elements reviewers look for are the ones any operating lab has: a registered business entity, a physical laboratory space appropriate to the work, hazard-handling basics consistent with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) — chemical storage, labeling, safety data sheet management, and disposal — and a defined research purpose. Local fire and zoning rules typically govern whether laboratory work is permitted at a given address. We are glad to answer questions from new laboratories about documentation and requirements before you apply.

What does not qualify

Eligibility is determined by intended use, not paperwork alone. A business entity formed to purchase materials for personal use does not qualify, and registration documents do not change that. We do not approve applications where the intended use is administration to humans or animals, resale for such use, or compounding. Applications are declined where the stated research purpose is inconsistent with the facilities described, and approved accounts are suspended if ordering patterns indicate non-laboratory use.
