What this compound is
IGF-1 LR3 is an engineered analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1, a naturally occurring protein of 70 amino acids. The analogue carries a 13-residue extension at one end and a single substitution at position 3, changes that sharply reduce its binding to IGF-binding proteins. Laboratories use it as a cell-culture supplement and as a tool for studying IGF-1 receptor signalling with reduced binding-protein interference. It is not approved for any medical use.
